Made a return to the centre of Aotearoa New Zealan Made a return to the centre of Aotearoa New Zealand this afternoon. I first came here in 2012 on my first visit to this biggest of small countries. I returned in 2019, just a few days before moving back to the US after living here for a year. And now, back again, this time with a house nearly completed for us an hour and a half or so over the nearest mountain range in this shot. Life continues to unfold in myriad patterns and unpredictabilities.

This weekend’s adventure: out and back to the Aw This weekend’s adventure: out and back to the Awapoto Hut. Most people who come to Abel Tasman follow the Coastal Track - truly stunning and one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Great Walks. The Inland Track I discovored is considerably less traveled and more rugged. It was slow going at times but had it’s own rewards.

Last time I was here doing the 100 miler in 2021 I ended up in the medical tent with heat exhaustion after completing the race. Flying to Rotorua this morning to participate in t Flying to Rotorua this morning to participate in this year’s Tarawera Ultramarathons 50k event. Mary will be doing the 20k. Big changes to the 102k and the 100 Miler courses due to land slides will make for a crowded trails and aid stations. Cheers to the organizers for finding a way to make it all happen despite the difficulties. Should be a fun weekend of running and spectating. #taraweraultramarathon #ultrarunning #rotorua
